The Plains Mill is located along the North Fork of the Shenandoah River in Timberville, Virginia. Built in 1847, this water powered grist mill was continuously used for 138 years to clean and grind grains for Shenandoah Valley farmers. In 2013, Plains Mill, LLC purchased the abandoned mill to begin a historic restoration project on the building and milling equipment. Our goal is save and preserve this local landmark while combining the rich history, quality agriculture and undeniable beauty and charm of the Shenandoah Valley to create the Plains Mill brand of goods. The Plains Mill will offer a wide range of on-site attractions including daily milling demonstrations, picturesque event areas for weddings and large gatherings, a craft distillery, and retail sales of raw/baked goods and local crafts.
